Cayucos Courtyard Home
The Project
A south-facing courtyard is the centerpiece of this traditional Spanish-style design. The home is situated to allow for easy access from the private courtyard to the ocean views from the upper balconies. The home features two guest bedrooms on the ground floor plus three bedrooms on the upper level. A six-foot masonry courtyard wall is integrated with planter areas that feature colorful bougainvillea vines. A masonry cap and integrated columns add visual interest to the courtyard wall. Shaped beam ends and post caps create a traditional look at the front entry porch. A traditional wrought iron balcony rail is a feature of the upper balcony. A clay tile roof and copper gutters add to the traditional look of the design.
The home is very energy efficient, outperforming rigorous California energy code requirements by 19 percent.
